Happy New Year! I’m looking forward to closing the chapter on 2020 and starting a new one in 2021. How about you? Don’t answer that I already know your answer:) Thanks again for following along here and helping me reach 20k on Instagram. Can’t believe it! Wow.
If you are in the know on kitchen trends then you know warm woods, two-toned kitchens and ranges taking center stage are what’s happening in the world of kitchen design. Not that we are chasing trends over here but it’s important when investing in a new kitchen you keep it fresh as well as functional.
Check out the kitchen we just wrapped up below.
Our clients love classic, traditional design. We kept the kitchen light and airy by keeping the trim around the cabinets clean and simple. When building a new home or renovating, the trim and millwork selections are so important in creating the look and feel of your home. Heavy trim in this kitchen would have made it feel too traditional in combination with this hood. If you are building a new home or updating your trim it’s a good idea to hire a professional to help you select important details like this.
The cabinets above are white and the hood a pretty warm wood. Brass lighting and hardware always looks incredible against the warmth of wood. We added a lower shelf below the upper cabinets so the kids can easily help put dishes away. Every little bit counts, right?
This client is lucky enough to have a large walk-in pantry for storage and smaller appliances so we could add a floating cabinet with leather wrapped handles which feels more like a piece of furniture than cabinetry. I love the symmetry of the glass uppers flanking the floating cabinet and large window. There is still plenty of space for the integrated sub-zero full refrigerator to the left and freezer drawers.
If you have the room I can’t stress enough how important a large walk in pantry can be. You can store food, dishes, platters, small appliances and other unsightly items so you can have the flexibility to design the kitchen of your dreams. If that space is large enough you can even include a smaller catering kitchen or scullery.
In the above picture you get a great perspective of the island’s thicker mitered quartzite countertop.
One of my favorite spots in this kitchen is this little nook to the left. It’s a great space for their young kids to play games and hang out with mom while meals are prepared.
We also made sure the chairs were low to the ground in case the kids stood on the chairs they were safe near the stairs. We think of everything so you don’t have to!!
We really loved working with our client, the cabinet company and builder to create the kitchen of our client’s dreams. I’ll continue to share more of this home over the next few weeks as well as other projects we are working on. Cheers to a fabulous new year. Thanks for reading! xoxo
I love these woven chairs. Please tell me where I could get them. Thank you.
Gigi
let me clarify which chairs. The 2 chairs that are around the low round table in kitchen nook.
